Preheat oven to 180C.
Bring sugar and 1 cup (250ml) water to a boil. Add lemon juice.
Core apples, place in baking dish then add figs.
Pour lemon syrup over and cover.
Bake for 15/20 mins basting occasionally or until apples are tender and syrup thickened.
