Ingredients Serves 4

  • Vegetables & Fresh Produce
  • 1/2 cup Onion
  • 1 pieces Green chilli pepper
  • 1 cup Green lentils, cooked soft
  • 1 tbsp Coriander
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • Oils, Sauces & Condiments
  • 2 tsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • Nuts & Seeds
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Whole cumin seeds
  • Grains, Pasta & Legumes
  • 4 cup White rice, cooked

Method

Step 1

Chop onion and chili pepper. Grate ginger.

Step 2

In a saucepan, heat vegetable oil. Add mustard seeds and cumin. When they splutter, add chopped onion, green chilies and ginger. Fry till the onion gets a light brown color.

Step 3

Add cooked lentils; add 3/4 cup water, salt and mustard powder. Cook for 10 minutes till the lentil cooks to desired consistency.

Step 4

Add lemon juice and sprinkle with finely chopped coriander.

Step 5

Serve hot with rotis/rice.
