Eating Well with Stage 5 CKD

Eating Well with Stage 5 CKD

If you’re living with Stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD), what you eat becomes even more important. Your body’s needs are changing, and your diet will need to as well. Diet can play a powerful role in supporting your energy, comfort, and overall health, whether you’re on dialysis, preparing for transplant, or choosing comprehensive conservative care.

This course is here to help you understand what’s happening in your body, which nutrients matter most, and how to work with your care team to find a way of eating that works for you.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Understand how Stage 5 CKD affects your body and nutritional needs
  • Identify which nutrients (like potassium, phosphorus, sodium and protein) are most important to monitor
  • Use food choices to manage common symptoms such as nausea or swelling
  • Work with your kidney dietitian or healthcare team to plan and adjust your meals
  • Feel more confident in making food decisions that suit your treatment and goals
